I've been completely upgrading a recently purchased 26" big box Mongoose Durham - only a wheelset left to install. The Markhor (on sale via the Hayes Website) was a perfect purchase, install, and consequent ride. The ride is markedly smoother and with the bonus of an unexpectedly slight increase in wheelbase, the steering is more slack on this little Mongoose. All of this makes my bike much more stable and fun to ride.
Alas, a few complaints: no included user manual, no included installation guide, and necessary Markhor pdf downloads woefully out-of-date and/or simply unavailable. Online discussions also point out this frustrating lack of corporate support. Nonetheless, I am pleased with the Markhor despite the above disappointments.
I love this fork, no complaints but I have a question? I extended the fork from 100mm to 120mm travel, although fork is extended out the extra 20mm, I don't seem to be getting the extra 20mm by way of travel in the fork? Could you please help me?
I bought a bike second hand. The bike came with a Manitou markhor fork from the manufacturer. The previous owner didn't ride the bike offroad, only on the road. He used the bike for less than a year (approximately 7 months). Just for clarification, I did not purchase this fork from this website I am just looking for help. As i said this fork comes standard with this bike. Fast forward a year and i noticed that my travel reduced from 100mm to 70mm. Even with no air the fork still bottoms out after 70mm. Is there anything I can do?
This has been a great upgrade for my wife’s bike. Easy to install and adjust based on her riding style.
I put the 26" fork for my sons 24" bike. A very light and good looking fork! He use it and likes it a lot.
He is 9yr and not heavy, but the fork works great even for his low weight and very low air pressure.
Questions:
1. I cannot notice any big difference between the extreme settings of rebound. It doesn't seem to matter if it's set to MAX or MIN. Is that due to the low air pressure my son need?
Hovever, the rebound luckily seems to be on point anyway and work fine. I'm asking of curiosity.
2. Is the 26" fork factory setting, 100mm travel? (No spacer pre-installed)
