At Manitou we don’t follow trends we question them. During our R&D process we do not look towards what we have – we look at what will be needed in the future. From damping to air spring and chassis – each of our technologies are carefully design to meet the requirements of its intended use category. All Manitou technologies that are being utilized in our products today are the result of more than 35years of research & development experience creating high performance suspension product.
Manitou’s patented hollow crown design optimizes the crown stiffness for the fork application while maintaining an overall weight reduction compared to other designs.
Manitou engineers placed the arch on the back of the fork further away from the axle. The lower tire clearance behind the fork allows for a shorter arch which yields a 13% increased stiffness compared to a forward arch fork of the equivalent weight.

The tooled version of the Hexlock axle combines stiffness and ease of use in the lightest weight package.
20mm Hexlock Thru Axle
Our patented hex axle locks the lower legs in place, eliminating rotation around the axle. This provides unsurpassed stiffness in a burly, no-gimmick 20mm axle system.
Trail Side Relief (TSR) allows the rider to “bleed” built up casting pressure to ensure the highest performance and lowest break away force for the best small bump feel.

MC2 sealed cartridge Dampers use a bladder for a light weight solution to eliminate cavitation during demanding riding. To handle fluid expansion the cartridge features a blow off valve to ensure a long service life and consistent performance.
MC2 technology provides an independent HSC circuit providing an adjustable high-speed blow off point combined with a LSC circuit providing adjustment for chassis control and small bump sensitivity. HBO provide bottom out support on all MC2 dampers.

Variable Terrain Tune (VTT) adapts to any terrain with the turn of a single knob. VTT adjusts both High-speed and Low-speed circuits in three factory set tunes for maximum versatility with minimum rider input. Open mode is set for maximum rider comfort while VTT-Pro adds a low speed adjustment to tune the characteristics of the setting. Firm is engages the high speed circuit for flow trails and additional support while descending. The third position is platform that provides a firm feel for maximum efficiency.

VTT-6P is our newest compression damper technology featuring an single external compression adjuster that simultaneously adjusts HS and LS damping characteristics. It features a fixed shim stack and a secondary shim stack that is preloaded by the external adjuster. The resulting wide tuning range combines the benefits of a Low-speed platform and High-speed progressive tune can suite any terrain. From fire-road climbs to big flowy jump lines to high-speed chunky rocks, VTT-6P can adapt to all terrain with flick of a switch.
Hydraulic Bottom Out (HBO) is a separate damping circuit controlling the very end of the compression stroke, typically the final 30mm of travel. Externally adjustable MC2 HBO circuit adds a trail tunable function as opposed to a fixed HBO found in other Pro and Comp level Forks

Twin Piston Chamber (TPC) technology is a damping arrangement consisting of 2 separate pistons, a moving rebound piston and a fixed compression piston at opposite ends of the tube. This architecture improves consistency and responsiveness by ensuring that oil is always pushed through the damping circuit and never pulled, preventing cavitation and reducing aeration.
Absolute Plus (ABS+) is a shim stack based damper that features external incremental Low Speed compression adjustment. The piston and shim stack are adaptable for a wide range of disciplines and riding styles.
Dorado and Expert Air
The Manitou Dorado Air and Expert Air spring systems contain a unique balancing valve that equalizes the positive and negative air chambers during the air fill process. This gives the spring rate a consistent feel without any flat or dead spots in the stroke, along with giving riders of different weights the same initial stroke feel. Dorado Air is our lightest weight air spring technology, while Expert Air has identical performance in a more cost effective package.
Manitou’s Travel-Stabilization spring technology using a rubber and coil top-out spring system to maintain consistent ride height regardless of set-up pressure. It is a very simple, highly reliable and time proven package that is easily tuned for multiple rider weights and riding styles.
Infinite Rate Tune (IRT) allows for advanced spring tuning by independently adjusting air pressures in the beginning and end stroke. IRT technology creates a secondary positive air spring that effects only the middle to end stroke of the fork. This allows the main air spring to be set to lower pressures for improved small bump sensitivity while maintaining mid-stroke support and moderate to aggressive end-stroke ramp-up.
Incremental Volume Adjust (IVA) modifies the volume in the positive air chamber with self contained spacers dictating the position of the IVA piston. This allows the main air spring ramp-up to be tuned to the rider weight, style and conditions without the need for additional parts.
WORK & PARTY MODE
The Mara Pro rear shock has two separate damping circuits that can be activated or bypassed by the Work / Party mode lever. Having two separate circuits allows the rider to have two no-compromise options, for climbing and descending.
Work mode is a preset damping circuit designed for climbing. Party mode is an externally adjustable high and low speed compression circuit. It offers a large range of tuning for a variety of riders and conditions.
The King Can is a higher volume air can with internally adjustable air volume. Adjusting the air volume allows the rider to change the spring curve, either linear or progressive. This is helpful to fully optimize the entire stroke of the travel for different suspension designs along with riders of different weights, riding styles, and abilities.
IPA (Incremental Platform Adjust)
A 4-position adjuster technology that changes preload on the shim stack allowing the rider to change from a fully open and linear damper with very light LSC, to a low platform offering good support for park and flow trail riding, on up to a firm lockout for fire road climbs.
