Strong, light, cheap; there's a reason Mulefuts are such a common OE spec. This is as good as it gets without paying for carbon. I have been abusing these for 3 years, using them as year round XC/trail wheels with the occasional trip to the bike park. With 6-7 psi in the tires, they hold up about as well as any aluminum skinny designed for my use. Finally smashed one (on a rock drop, running not enough pressure), and replaced with same.
Purchased as an upgrade for my Giant Yukon which was suffering from the same common rear hub issues many Yukon owners have run into. The stock wheels are simply...well...garbage. After looking everywhere to find replacement 28h hubs which are virtually non-existent, it made more sense to just get a new set of wheels with more industry-standard specs. The Mulefut was a perfect replacement.
The rear fit perfectly however the front hub end-caps did not fit into the dropouts on the Giant fork. This is the fault of Giant, not Sun Ringle. I contacted Hayes for a recommendation and they knew exactly what the issue was. Giant had gone with their own standard (as they do often) and machined the dropouts for 19mm rather than the 21mm the rest of the industry follows. The best fix was to have the caps milled down 2mm. Luckily I have a friend with a machine shop. Easy fix.
I love that the rims were already taped and my tires mounted up with little effort. And the included sealant and freehub body were a nice bonus.
These are awesome wheels! After fighthing with various options to try and convert my existing wheels to tubeless, I gave up and bought the SUNringlés instead. Nice and straight, and they popped and sealed on first try. They even kept air overnight without any sealant.
Holding one star because I would have liked if there was an option to replace one of the included freehub bodies with a Shimano HG. It's a bit annoying having to order it seperately knowing the wheels come with 2 bodies you won't use...
Regardless, I highly recommend the wheels.
