Dorigoni Takes over Salento MX
NOTHING STOPS DORIGONI TAKING OVER THE SALENTO MX
Last weekend of double events, the team was divided to face multiple opponents between the MTB Garda Marathon and the Marathon del Salento. The youngest, Jakob Dorigoni and Andrea Candeago , headed to Puglia, looking for an encore, after Andrea Candeago's victory last season.
The two national champions Diego Rosa and Peeter Pruus returned to racing at the MTB Garda Marathon, a tough test to prepare for the most important events.
The maximum effort of all the riders gave good signs, but above all they brought another victory to the team. At the Marathon of Salento Jakob Dorigoni scored his first success of this season, after 73 km and some route errors, the number ten of the Cape Epic took the lead of the race from the start, avoiding risks and taking advantage of everything the group.
With a gap of over 1 minute on his opponents, Jakob seemed to be able to reach the finish line of the Salento Marathon alone, but a route error canceled out this advantage. The great coolness of the rider from Bolzano allowed him to recover the margin, come back on top and sprint down the straight of the kart track to take the victory. A great performance enriched by the third place of Andrea Candeago (1st among the Under23s), his performance marked his return to competition and this third place demonstrates his perfect recovery from the injury.
Diego Rosa and Peeter Pruus also returned to competitions with the MTB Garda Marathon , the two expert riders challenged themselves with a severe route in which they tried to find the inspiration to achieve a result.
The two riders, both recovering from injuries in March, fought tooth and nail, crossing the finish line in the top 10 of this competition, with 10th place for Diego Rosa, followed a few seconds by his teammate Peeter Pruus.
The two have shaken off the rust as we approach the important events of this season. From the north, however, Casey South, victim of a violent road accident while training, managed to get back on the rollers to begin his recovery. The Swiss will still have to face a period of rehabilitation but says he is eager and motivated to rejoin the group.
