The A4s offer a rare combination of buttery-smooth lever feel and very powerful braking.
I used to think the A4s were the best brakes on the market, but the new Hope Tech 4 V4s beat it in terms of sheer power on tap. I still prefer the A4s' lever feel, though. It's also easier to find Hayes parts in the US compared to Hope, at least for now.
My only quibble with the A4s is that pad spacing is probably narrower than stated - I wasn't able to fit a 2mm Galfer disc without it rubbing a bit.
These brakes are still fantastic though, and I don't think anyone who has the money to spare will regret buying them.
Hope this helps.
I haven’t gotten a chance to test them out fully yet but the brakes seem awesome. However this might be just me but when I was going through the website it didn’t occur to me that “brake kit” meant it was only one lever one hose and one caliper, so I only bought one, will be ordering another however be aware so you don’t make the same mistake I did.
After Ali Clarkson started to fit the Dominion A4 on all his new bike builds I decided to try them myself and they did not disappoint.
Powerful, great modulation, super light lever feel and those alignment screws!
Will definitely buy another set for the second bike.
... to replace the set on my new bike, which is something I don't normally do. I usually just ride the brakes that come stock on a bike. However, after riding a bike that had these brakes, I was sold. Though the stopping power is fantastic, the FEEL of these brakes, in my opinion, is the best on the market. It helps that the levers look like little stealth planes as well! It checks all the boxes. Hayes is back baby!
Before i bought the dominions i try big names brands of brake like shimano (saint and XTR) and sram(CODE RSC), all problems and waste of money, so i go with the specific brake brand like magura (MT7) from germany and the problems still there. Then i found the HAYES "MIRACLE" DOMINIOS they are a gift from the gods. THIS BRAKES ARE PERFECT, why? they are consistent, powerful, amazing feel, nice modulation and minimal or no effort lever. They only compare to Trickstuff maxima and i still prefer dominions because they use dot 5.1 and not spefic oil only for ure brakes and cost less than half of the price.
THX HAYES TEAM FOR MADE MY DREAM BREAK COME TRUE!
