Well, it was a good weekend in West Virginia...
We've headed stateside and the weather decided to be the exact opposite and rain almost all week making the slipperiest track we have ever seen.
Unfortunately it was a wild ride for Jenna as what started off as some good practiced ended with a big crash in timed training and an injured hand. After some scans and being protected for final's she decided to just roll the gate and save it for race day. After only one single practice run before finals Jenna got into the adrenaline zone and pushed on for what almost was a winning race run...coming through the last split in the lead before a small slide out costing her big time... Still able to get back on the bike and finishing 4th keeping her 3rd place overall and salvaging what was almost a write off of a weekend. The girl is a fighter! Some more X-rays this week ahead of Mont saint Anne to make sure everything is okay!
Well my week started off pretty good knowing the track was going to be super technical in the wet and feeling good out the gate with a 2nd in timed practice. Next up was qualifying where I would slot into 3rd place, a career best. On race day I felt great but first run down hit a slippery root 15 seconds in and crashed into a tree that snapped my brake lever...Pushed back up to the top and barney got another one on but with only enough time for 1 practice run. We made it happen and stayed positive and focused knowing the track was drying through the day for finals.
My race run was anything but perfect, but I pushed on even though I almost threw it away a few times...coming into the finish line into 1st place has only happened a few times in my Carrer and doing it after qualifying 3rd I knew I was on for a career best finish. Unfortunately it wasn't quite a win with Amaury Pierron beating me by 0.4 or a second...so close to the win but also my best ever with 2nd at a world cup!
Its been an unreal time chasing a top 3 at a world cup and coming so close to the win...we are gonna keep pushing with all your support so thank you so much and see you at Mont Saint Anne this weekend!
